The tracking system SPTR

The tracking system SPTR

General
The tracking system SPTR is used to steer small and middle payloads on terrestrial and extraterrestrial targets. It can unguardedly work for all weathers over long time periods. A typical application is the permanent correct alignment of a measuring device with the sun. Other applications are the control of cameras, sensors or other equipments in the context of industrial or scientific tasks.

The control is carried out with help of an azimuth axis and an elevat axis. Every axis is driven by a stepper motor about high precise transmission. The smallest step is 0.009 degrees. Every axis can be moved in 2 directions.

The movement range is limited by a limit switch independent and absolute. If the movement of one of the axes of azimuth or elevat leads on one of the limit switches, the system is turned off. The position monitoring of the tracker is carried out with help of a sun visor. The aperture angle of the sun visor amounts to approx. 8 degrees. . If the sun doesn't shine the position monitoring of the tracker is carried out by a PC.

With help of a control program the tracker can be steered on arbitrary space coordinates. If at this the safety range, witch is limited by the limit switches, shall be exceeded, these can be deactivated.

In this condition it is also possible to carry out almucantar measurements.
